The over-idealization of 9/11
I’ve not been one who wishes to dwell on 9/11, nor am I one who submits to the pressure to rally around that date. Today is, however, the 7th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. While I am positive that these were terrorist attacks, I still wonder about a few things.
I wonder about how the government knew the true identities of all the terrorists involved just hours after the attack. They claimed that these men all had phony names and IDs, yet they were remarably quick in telling us who they were even though they were all burned up in the attack. Either we happened on the one thing our government does well or somehow “they” had some pre-existing information on these people.
I am curious about the psychology that caused people to jump out the windows of the WTC. Did they do it just out of irrational panic reaction or did they decide they’d rather die by splat rather than burn to death?
Then there’s the victims’ families that received an amazingly disproportional sum of money forcibly extricated from the incomes of American workers. Sure this was a horrible time and I have sympathy for all those that lost family members. The truth remains, however, that when my family loses a family member, the government is not going to take American workers’ income and make my family wealthy. Dawg! The government takes so much of my money to help all these other people that I have trouble taking care of my own responsibilities… then when I’m in a time of need, I don’t get anything back from the government. This literal “throw money at the problem” mentality continued in the aftermath of Katrina. As the $2,000 debit cards and other free money efforts were instrumental in the loss of public concern for New Orleans, the millions of dollars paid to each family after 9/11 caused me to lose some of my concern for them.
Then there was the airline bailout. Remember how billions of dollars were handed over to the failing airline industry to prop them up after 9/11? Why is it that the government never bails me out after I’ve met unfortunate circumstances?
There’s that pesky problem of why we invaded Afghanistan even though the government knew all the identities of the hijackers and none of them were from Afghanistan. I think most of them were from Saudi Arabia… why didn’t we attack them? And Bin Laden… does he really exist? Somehow our government knew within 24 hours that Bin Laden was behind these attacks. I don’t know if this guy’s for real or not. He may be an Islamic mythological figure that some dude dressed up as – - kinda like Santa Claus.
Then there’s the war on terror. Which really isn’t a war on terror. Well, it is sort of. But if we are at war with terror, why then is our government actively promoting and defending Islamic insurgents within the USA? Bush has defended Islam as a religion of peace for years now, yet there’s absolutely no evidence that supports such a defense. To make our war on terror even more of a joke, we allow the Democrats to nominate an Islamic terrorist, Barack Hussein Obama Barry Dunham Barry Soetoro to be President!
Since 9/11 after every mall shooting, every explosion, every airplane crash, we hear in the news something after this pattern: “Officials do not know what caused the blast, but they have confirmed that it wasn’t terror related.” So if they don’t know anything about the cause, how then do they know that it’s not terror related? Why do they bring up terror anyway? It’s a routine pattern.
So today we remember… and we wonder.
Here’s some good links that everyone should read today… just to keep in mind what all happened that day:
