Devastating 7-0 Loss for Shannon Forest at Arden, NC

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

A devastating loss was applied to the Shannon Forest Middle School soccer team today in Arden, NC (Christ School).

Clearly, the SFCS offense was non-existent for the entire game, a failure that is eerily reminicent of last year’s perpetual aversion to scoring goals. Perhaps the most detrimental aspect of the match came in the form of Shannon Forest’s inability to mount a cohesive defense, a defense that has shown much promise since the pre-season workouts.

Whatever the specific factors involved in today’s defeat are, we hope for a full recovery as the Shannon Forest Middle School Crusaders go up against a variety of opponents at this weekend’s Mitchell Road Christian Academy’s Soccer Jamboree

Shannon Forest Runs Well at Gaston Day Inivtational

Friday, August 31st, 2007

Yesterday (8/30/07) SFCS participated in the Gaston Day Inivtational cross country tournament in Gastonia, NC.  Schools represented were Shannon Forest Christian School, Metrolina Christian, SouthLake Christian Academy, Victory Christian Center School, Davidson Day School, Challenger High School & Lincoln Charter School.

The overall details from this event are a bit sketchy, but we do know that the #1 runner was from SFCS.  Bryce Tyson, running for SFCS, finished #5.  So with two runners in the top five and three runners in the top 10, we’d say that SFCS came out looking quite strong at the first meet of the season.

Several reports from the event seem to suggest severe organizational and administrative weakness.  Much thought and reflection should be invested by SFCS before returning to this invitational next year.

UPDATE: Shannon Forest Middle Shuts Out Statesville Christian, Varsity Tanks

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

In the season opener, Shannon Forest shut out Statesville 2-0 in the season opener. Enabled by two assists by Devon Tyson, the Shannon Forest Middle School Crusaders scored once in each half and fended off strong attacks from Statesville.

From the SFCS web site concerning this game:

SFCS Middle School Soccer Team Opens With A Win

September 4, 2007 -The Shannon Forest Christian School Middle School Soccer team opened its season with a victory over Statesville Christian.  Some of the highlights from the game included a long cross from Devon Tyson to Baxter Ballenger for first score and a direct kick from Tyson to Breilen Beamon for the second score.  The Crusaders’ tough defense allowed only six shots to SFCS goal.  This puts the team at 1-0 on the year.  The Crusaders will face a big game this week at Christ School on Tuesday, September 4 at 4:00 p.m. and will participate in the Mitchell Road Christian Academy Jamboree on Friday, September 7, and Saturday, September 8.

The final score was SFCS 2 - Statesville 0

Things did not work out so well for Shannon Forest’s varsity team. They lost to Statesville Christian’s varsity soccer by a score of 3-0 in a very disappointing shut-out match.

It’s Amazing What Cheating Can Do!

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

Who gives a sh*t about skill, hard work, determination, good character, fairness, and a pinch of luck?  It’s all unnecessary now because all you need is a few needles and some illicit drugs and - BAMMO! - you’ve got a record!

Let the record stand I guess, but the official  stats must describe that the record was achieved through cheating and therefore should not be compared to those who earned their achievements on “a level playing field,” pardon the pun.

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS SLUGGER BARRY BONDS HITS HIS 756TH HOME RUN OFF WASHINGTON NATIONALS PITCHER MIKE BACSIK, SURPASSING HANK AARON’S 31-YEAR-OLD RECORD

Schilling Speaks out against ‘Roids

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

One of the few people to be vocal against the cheaters in baseball including Barry Bonds has spoken out again:

NEW YORK — Curt Schilling says that Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire’s refusals to address accusations of steroids use are tantamount to admissions.

“If someone wrote that stuff about me and I didn’t sue their [butt] off, am I not admitting that there’s some legitimacy to it?” he said on HBO’s “Costas Now.”

Schilling said “this will be the steroids era forever” and proposed that Jose Canseco and Rafael Palmeiro should be punished for steroids use.

“Jose Canseco admitted he cheated his entire career,” Schilling said. “Everything he ever did should be wiped clean. I think his MVP should go back and should go to the runner-up.”

Bonds’ lawyer says cheater will get away with fraud…

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

What an arrogant attitude Bonds’ lawyer has!  He know Bonds’ is guilty. The fans know that Bonds is guilty. In fact, everyone knows that Bonds is guilty of cheating at baseball and fraudulently going after the home run record.

Let’s hope that the government’s case is as good as they say it is and that this flea-bitten bonds lawyer gets a good conviction shoved down his throat!

Bonds’ lawyer says he’s prepared to outmaneuver feds

If the federal government decides to indict Barry Bonds, it will have a hard time convicting his client, attorney Michael Rains told The New York Daily News for Sunday’s editions.

“I’ll outmaneuver them at every turn,” Rains told the newspaper Saturday night. “I’ve kicked their ass in private, I’ll continue to kick their ass in public.”

A federal grand jury investigating Barry Bonds has been extended for another six months, and the U.S. Attorney’s office is confident it will have enough evidence to secure an indictment of the San Francisco Giants slugger this fall, The Daily News reported Saturday, citing anonymous sources familiar with the government’s case.

Debunking the Phillies: Find their “Mad Skills”

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

Well, the Phillies sure seem incapable of playing baseball, but they have (perhaps accidentally) discovered where their mad skills lie: tarp dispensing.  During the rain delay with the Rockies, the wind caused the tarp to get out of control.  The Phillies came to the rescue, showing that they really can do something right.  The emotional boost led them to victory in the game and put off their 10,000th defeat until after the All Star break.

From the article:

Phillies 8, Rockies 4

DENVER (AP) — Rockies groundskeeper Keros Johnson was trapped in the middle of an out-of-control tarp. When he finally crawled out, the wide-eyed Johnson was greeted by a sight he didn’t expect — Shane Victorino and Co. attempting to get the tarp under control.Victorino helped wrangle with the tarp before a rain delay and then hit a two-run homer after the break in Philadelphia’s 8-4 win over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.Talk about good karma.”That’s not why you do things,” Victorino said. “I felt like we needed to help, just in case.”The win puts the Phillies’ dubious milestone on hold until after the All-Star break. They’ve lost 9,999 games in franchise history. Most of the Phillies bench emptied onto the field during the seventh-inning delay, rescuing members of Colorado’s grounds crew from underneath the whipping tarp. A strong burst of wind caught hold of it as the crew tried to roll it over the infield.

Benoit’s Death is the Government’s Fault?

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

You have got to be freaking kidding me! OK, I understand that the woman is grieving and all, that’s normal… but to blame the Federal Government of the United States for not preventing her son’s access to steroids is ridiculous!  Why doesn’t she just admit that her son made some really lousy choices in his personal life and now he and his family are dead because of them?

People, we are all responsible for the decisions we make. The Federal Government is not capable of and should not be expected to predict our bad decisions and then make those decisions impossible to implement.

Chris Benoit’s mother wonders whether her son would still be alive if federal agents had been more aggressive when they discovered the professional wrestler was buying large quantities of steroids.
