Al Sadr beaten back in Basra

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

It’s good news that the Iraqi army has managed to defeat Al Sadr’s militia in Basra. The one thing that continues to amaze me is that this Al Sadr guy is still alive. Remember when the US military had Al Sadr holed up in a mosque? We could have captured or killed him way back then, but Bush was too skeered to bomb a mosque: Too afraid to attack the enemy.

So, for what it’s worth, YIPPEE.

Bush’s war strategy established as “weak” for centuries

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

I  came across, in the Sun-Tsu an observation that - had Bush regarded (rather than fighting a politically correct war) would have had us out of Iraq years ago in victory:

“In joining battle, seek the quick victory…. I have heard tell of foolish haste, but I have yet to see a case of cleverly dragging on the hostilities. There has never been a state that has benefited from an extended war”

Sun-Tzu 2:107

So as early as the third century B.C., the fact that war must be waged quickly and effectively in order to win was already well known.  Oh how the USA has cast reason to the wind and has pursued insane policies on almost every level!

U.S. air strike in Sadr City kills 13: hospitals

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

HIP HIP HOORAY!  How many millions more?…  Maybe we’re getting more accurate and deadly. Think of the freakin’ medical bills we’re going to save by having funerals rather than hospital care!  WAY TO GO!  DON’T MESS WITH THE U.S.!

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A U.S. helicopter strike in Baghdad’s crowded Shi’ite slum of Sadr City killed 13 people and wounded eight early on Wednesday, hospital sources said.

Reuters television pictures showed a U.S. attack helicopter circling above bullet-riddled cars and a house that showed damage from shrapnel and fire.

U.S. military officials did not immediately respond to queries about the incident.

An official at Sadr City Hospital said it had received 10 bodies, while an official at Imam Ali Hospital, said it had taken in three bodies.

Police put the death toll at 11 and said it included women and children.

An official in the office of Shi’ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr said U.S. aircraft had attacked Sadr City’s Tareq neighborhood before dawn.

Hundreds of angry mourners chanted as they carried at least three coffins, draped in Iraqi flags, through Sadr City streets. Family members wept.
