Finally Heard Back from Lindsey Graham!

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

Geesh! I’ve only called his office about 1,000 times, sent about 2,000 emails and about 500 faxes over the past year or so. Finally I heard back from him!! He sent a fact sheet about his AMNESTY bill. The entire message follows:

From: Senator@lgraham.senate.gov

Subject: Immigration Reform Fact Sheet
Date: Jun 27, 2007 12:25 PM (Just came in today)

Fellow South Carolinians –

Thank you for contacting me about immigration reform. Debate begins again this week in the Senate and I wanted you to have the facts about the bill.

We both know this is a complex subject and the legislation makes many important and long-overdue changes in our nation’s immigration policies. Below I have summarized the key provisions of the bill so that you will have all the facts.

As my constituent your opinions and thoughts are very important to me. I have listened to your constructive input — and as you will see below — much of that input has been considered and adopted.

Thank you again for your interest in immigration reform. If you wish to respond or have additional thoughts on this subject please use my website http://lgraham.senate.gov/index.cfm?mode=contactform . I regret this email account is unable to accept incoming messages.

The Immigration Reform Legislation Makes $4.4 Billion for Border Security Available Immediately

Under a provision I authored with Senator Jon Kyl (R-Arizona), the legislation immediately makes available $4.4 billion in mandatory spending to secure our nation’s borders. Funds will be spent on miles of new fencing, miles of new vehicle barriers, surveillance towers, detention beds, the Electronic Employee Verification System (EEVS), and other enforcement programs. The moment the presidential signing pen meets the paper these funds will be available.

English is Declared the National Language of the United States

The legislation states that no person has a “right, entitlement or claim to have the Government of the United States or any of its officials or representatives act, communicate, perform or provide services, or provide materials in any language other than English..” It also makes clear that the U.S. government and federal agencies should “preserve and enhance the role of English as the national language of the United States of America .” The conservative Heritage Foundation has called the amendment “both sensible and necessary.” http://lgraham.senate.gov/index.cfm?mode=presspage&id=275683

Current Immigration Laws are Inadequate - Here’s How We Reform and Strengthen our Immigration & Employment Law

The Legislation Holds Employers Accountable for the Workers They Hire

To crack down on the hiring of illegal workers, the immigration reform bill sets up an Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification System (EEVS) to help employers verify the status of the workers they hire. Employers will be required to verify the work eligibility of all employees using EEVS and all workers will be required to present stronger and more readily verifiable identification documents. The legislation imposes stiff new Criminal and Civil penalties on employers who hire illegal workers.

General Background Information on the Immigration Reform Bill

The legislation charts a new path for our nation’s immigration policies. The legislation reclaims control of our nation’s borders by adding new Border Patrol agents and technology to stop illegal border crossings. It establishes a new comprehensive employee verification system - for all workers including Americans — to ensure people are in the country legally and eligible to work.

It also breaks the cycle of chain migration by placing a premium on the education and job skills of new immigrants coming to the United States . This new merit-based system is a major change in our nation’s immigration policies and allows us to attract the best and brightest in the world.

It establishes a temporary guest worker system to meet our nation’s future labor needs. Temporary workers can come here and work for a defined period of time, but they must return to their home country. And it establishes procedures to deal with the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants — allowing them to stay under our rules — not theirs . They will be placed on probation and pay fines, learn English, and assimilate into American society. If they want to become citizens — a minimum 13 year process — they will be forced to leave the United States and return to their country of origin. Only from there will they be allowed to apply for citizenship.

Closing Thoughts from U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham on Illegal Immigration and the Path Forward on Immigration Reform

There is no doubt that illegal immigration has placed real burdens and strains on our state and nation. Illegal immigrants have come here against our laws and are using our health care and education services. They have created identity theft problems with their buying or procuring of Social Security numbers and false identities. And even worse, there is absolutely no way to ensure they are paying taxes on the money they earn here like millions of law-abiding American workers are required to do.

I understand that honest, decent taxpayers across South Carolina are bearing the costs of this problem. People are mad about the situation and for good reason. Illegal immigration has gotten way out of control and the problem has been allowed to fester for too long. Frustration that the Federal Government can not pass laws to address this issue is manifesting itself all over the country, with state and local legislatures considering over 1,100 individual ordinances that deal with illegal immigration.

The magnet drawing illegal immigrants into the United States is the ease with which they can find employment. All an illegal immigrant needs is a fake driver’s license and a bogus Social Security card, both of which can be bought for a few hundred dollars.

As long as the documents appear to be genuine - a huge gaping hole in current law - the employer can legally hire the worker. The current situation was best summed up by one individual in Pennsylvania ’s farming industry who said, “Many of our members have legally hired illegal workers.”

Let’s be clear, there are no perfect or magical answers to our immigration problems. Any proposed solution which can be signed into law is going to have some things in there that I don’t like and I would prefer not to do. But at the end of the day, we live in a political process and nation that requires give-and-take and compromise. It is the way we solve big problems.

While our legislation is not perfect, it will give some much-needed direction and guidance to the towns, cities, counties, and states which have born the brunt of illegal immigration. If Congress fails to act, the problem of illegal immigration will only grow and the anger felt by the people of South Carolina will worsen.

The legislation is the best opportunity for our nation to address our illegal immigration problems in a realistic and honest manner. I hope you will agree.

Too many lies, too late Senator Graham. You are a traitor and you KNOW what THEY say about Payback!

Lindsey Graham Defiant to the End!

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

LindseyGraham STILL doesn’t get it!  I hope he gets it when his a$$ is sitting down here in South Carolina for the next term. Get a good summary of today’s amnesty events HERE. Jim DeMint was great speaking out after Amnesty was rejected:

“When the U.S. Senate brought the Amnesty bill back up this week, they declared war on the American people. This act created a crisis of confidence in their government. Thankfully, the American people won today,” said Senator DeMint. “This is remarkable because it shows that Americans are engaged and they care deeply about their country. They care enough for their country to get mad and to fight for it, and that’s the most important thing of all. Americans made phone calls and sent letters, and convinced the Senate to stop this bill.”

“The Senate rejected this bill and the heavy-handed tactics used to ram it through. Americans do not want more of the same – amnesty and broken promises on the border. Americans want legislation to be written in public – not in secret – and they want Congress to engage in an open and fair debate.”

“There is a better way forward without this bill. The President has said that the border security measures can be implemented over the next 18 months, and they can be done under current law. Now the Administration needs to prove it and stop holding border security hostage for amnesty.”

“Once we have secured the border and restored trust with the American people, we can begin to take additional steps.”

46-53, immigration bill goes down in defeat
By Klaus Marre
June 28, 2007
The comprehensive immigration reform bill that has dodged attacks from the left and right for weeks, survived “poison pill” amendments, and was once pulled from the Senate schedule failed its most important test Thursday. Passage of the legislation now appears unlikely.

The bipartisan coalition that had shepherded the measure through so many obstacles failed to get the 60 votes necessary to end debate. The final vote was 46-53

Until Thursday morning, it was unclear whether the bill would survive the cloture vote. But in the end, opponents of the measure from both sides of the political spectrum gained enough support to derail the legislation. Liberals felt it did not go far enough in protecting illegal immigrants, while conservatives rejected the bill because they felt it would grant amnesty to the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the country.

Republican foes of the measure argued that the American public was broadly united in opposition to the bill and had made its views known by flooding Congress with phone calls and e-mails.

“What part of ‘no’ don’t we understand?,” asked Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), who said the immigration fight had “reengaged the American people.”

But Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), one of the key members of the coalition that crafted the bill, warned his Republican colleagues ahead of the vote.

“Remember this day if you vote ‘no,’” Graham said, adding that this bill would not come back in its current form and it is “as good as it gets.”

President Bush has taken a hands-on approach to the legislation, which he views as an important part of his domestic legacy. Leading up to the vote, called senators to urge them to support the bill.

GOOD NEWS: Senate Blocks AMNESTY

Thursday, June 28th, 2007
Senate Blocks Immigration Bill
WASHINGTON AP - The Senate drove a stake Thursday through President Bushs plan to legalize millions of unlawful immigrants, likely postponing major action on immigration until after the 2008 elections.

The bills supporters fell 14 votes short of the 60 needed to limit debate and clear the way for final passage of the legislation, which critics assailed as offering amnesty to illegal immigrants. The vote was 46 to 53 in favor of limiting the debate.

Senators in both parties said the issue is so volatile that Congress is highly unlikely to revisit it this fall or next year, when the presidential election will increasingly dominate American politics.

A similar effort collapsed in the Congress last year, and the House has not bothered with an immigration bill this year, awaiting Senate action.

The vote was a stinging setback for Bush, who advocated the bill as an imperfect but necessary fix of current immigration practices in which many illegal immigrants use forged documents or lapsed visas to live and work in the United States.

It was a victory for Republican conservatives who strongly criticized the bills provisions that would have established pathways to lawful status for many of the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants. They were aided by talk radio and TV hosts who repeatedly attacked the bill and urged listeners to flood Congress with calls, faxes and e-mails.

Obama HUSSEIN’s Church about as Christian as Satan!

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Just in case you were fooled by Obama Hussein’s recent diatribe against “The Religious Right,” you need to read about Obama Hussein’s “Church.”

Barack Obama and Bill Moyers Rouse Birthday Fete for Liberal United Church of Christ

Matthew May

Hartford, CT—A very liberal and fast declining United Church of Christ (UCC) celebrated its 50th birthday, with rousing speeches from Senator Barack Obama and PBS commentator Bill Moyers, both of whom are UCC members.

Both speakers fingered the “Religious Right” as a threat to American democracy. Moyers specifically warned against the Institute on Religion and Democracy for supposedly attempting to disrupt the UCC. Neither speaker offered any criticisms that might apply particularly to their left-leaning UCC audience.

The 1.2-million-member UCC has lost nearly one million members over the last 40 years.  Its decline has accelerated since its formal endorsement of same-sex “marriage” two years ago.

Although tracing its origins back to New England’s early Puritans, the UCC was formally organized in 1957.  Its 26th General Synod met June 22-26 in Hartford, Connecticut.

Wasting no time getting political, the UCC leadership unveiled an anti-Iraq War statement on the synod’s first day, to enthusiastic applause.  The statement condemned the “arrogant unilateralism of preemptive war” and apologized for the UCC’s supposed “silent witness” to the deaths of Americans and Iraqis.

UCC General Minister and President John H. Thomas said at a press conference preceding the opening session that the Iraq operation was “conceived in deception, carried on in arrogance, and has led to legal and moral decay in both domestic and foreign policy.”

On June 23, PBS commentator and former Lyndon Johnson aide Bill Moyers congratulated the UCC for its “prophetic voice against the militarism, materialism, and racism that chokes our nation’s arteries.” For this stand, Moyers added, the UCC “has been attacked” by “well-financed” groups who endeavor to “stifle speaking truth to power and call the empire to repentance.” Later, Moyers specifically warned against the Institute on Religion and Democracy (IRD) and recommended Steeplejacking, a recently published book accusing groups like the IRD of a deliberate campaign to destroy the UCC.

Moyers interspersed his critique of conservative Christians with complaints about a general erosion of accountability in government and the media. Arguing that poverty and injustice have historically been “intentionally-willed priorities,” Moyers declared that “nothing seems to embarrass the political class of today.” Moyers pointed to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the 1995 Chicago heat wave that killed many elderly citizens as prime examples of the alleged lack of embarrassment and compassion among elected officials.

The famed PBS commentator cited statistics indicating growing income disparity, lower wages, educational disparity, and 45 million Americans without health insurance. Moyers also noted that a recent UNICEF “report card” ranked the United States among the most dismal of industrialized nations regarding child well-being. With increasing numbers of “gated communities,” Moyers concluded that Americans are unhealthily distancing themselves from one another.

These conditions directly result from a coordinated conservative strategy to establish a society of haves and have-nots, Moyers claimed. Conservatives aimed to “destroy public resources and take them for private interests.”  Moyers specifically blamed “corporate activism, intellectual propaganda, the rise of a political religion of fundamentalism deeply opposed to any civil and human right that threatens its paternalism, and a series of political decisions favoring the interests of wealthy elites who bought the political system right out from under us.”

Moyers linked President Bush to disgraced former Enron chief Kenneth Lay, citing the alleged close connection as an example of the “ruthless war” being prosecuted against average Americans. “What is happening in America is not right,” Moyers charged.  The United States “was not meant to be a country where the winner takes all,” he maintained.  During his childhood and adulthood, Moyers said, “America was a shared project. Not now.”

Arguing that “America’s revolutionary heritage is under siege” and that “we can lose our democracy” if churches such as the UCC fail to take a stand, Moyers issued an “altar call.”  When  Jesus overturned the moneychangers’ tables,  there was “no cheek turned there,” Moyers said.  “Jesus passed judgment and took action. Indignant at a profane violation of the sacred, Jesus threw the rascals out.”

DeMint: Amnesty Amendments Offered Sight Unseen

Voting on Bills and Amendments That Don’t Exist…

…or haven’t been read. Jim DeMint spoke eloquently today decrying the fact that the Senate is being asked to vote for a bill that keeps changing.

He asked for unanimous consent to have the new 400 page amendment to be read.

“There’s no intent to let this body know what is in this bill.”

Click HERE to see Senator DeMint’s SIX requests for unanimous consent killed by unamerican bastards in the Senate:

Read updates on today’s proceedings at Malkin’s blog by clicking HERE

DeMint called for votes on several key and logical requests for the amendments to be read; for the changes to be read; for the bill to be read. All his requests were killed by the objection of some wicked Jezebel Democrat wearing a yellow suit.

How disgusting - not only that the Democrats would want to force through something that has not been read, understood or debated - but that stinkin’ treacherous RINOs would go along with this nonsense!

I offer kudos and praise to our senator from South Carolina, Jim DeMint, for boldly exposing the treachery today.

Barbara Boxer: 400 - 500 Illegals Die Crossing Desert

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Demofascist Barbara Boxer whined before the Senate saying that no amnesty means that we condemn 400 - 500 illegals to death as they cross the desert. This is obviously because the American people are forcing these people to cross the border illegally - RIGHT?

Let’s hope that Global Warming is real and that MORE illegals will DIE as they break our law by invading our nation. Since our President and our government won’t protect us, maybe Al Gore’s fake global warming scam will save us. Wishful thinking.

Bush continues to promote “Religion of Peace” lie.

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Why is it that Bush has time to honor and support ALL our enemies, but he has none to fulfill the constitutional responsibilities of his office?  I will do nothing to support this man nor will I do anything to defend him. He has abandoned all moral principle and betrayed us, so I say, “Let him rot!” Read more HERE and HERE.

OK, I’m Back!

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Today’s disastrous vote for cloture was quite discouraging. I took some time to mull it over, and now I’m back. Folks, we can’t give up. We must continue the pressure on the pathetic scumbags that infest the Senate. I extend my kudos to my Senator, Jim DeMint and to the Republicans in the House of Representatives who resolved to oppose the Senate’s amnesty bill. You can read more about their heroism HERE.

Also at Michelle Malkin are links to the “Clay Pigeon” poop and more about the disgusting Harry Reid.  Harry Reid so thoroughly disgusts me that the only people I abhor more are our treacherous President and the RINO sect in the Senate.

I hate being betrayed. I despise being despised as Lindsey Graham, the President and Trent Lott despise me. I’m signed back on. I think I’ll call the RNC for that refund and then I’ll settle down to craft an email to Lindsey Graham.
