TURN HIM OFF, SHUT HIM DOWN! SEND HIM TO CUBA!

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Folks, we all as Americans need to start banding together against the destructive forces that are within our country. Let’s get some collective cajones together and start telling Al Sharpton and his homies to “SHUT UP!”

From Malkin:

Thanks to his bipartisan enablers in politics and the media, race-hustling charlatan Al Sharpton never lacks a stage. Yesterday, still coasting on the Jena Six fumes, he announced an anti-hate crimes demonstration that will take place Nov. 16 in Washington, D.C., outside the Justice Department. He’s targeting both the Bush administration and Democrats who haven’t pandered enough to him and his small flock of career grievance-mongers

Illegal Aliens Should Not Be Allowed To Attend School In The United States

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Big hearty DITTOS go out to John Hawkins at Right Wing News!

From RWN:

Illegal Aliens Should Not Be Allowed To Attend School In The United States

“First of all, just to be crystal clear, if you’re an illegal alien, you do not have a right to an education or, for that matter, to continue to be in this country. Whether you are 17 or 70, whether you’ve been here a day or a decade, the penalty for being here illegally is deportation — and you don’t get a pass if you’re in school.

Moreover, setting aside from the fact that’s it’s not right to use taxpayer dollars to educate people who aren’t supposed to be in this country in the first place, it’s completely counter-productive to allow illegal aliens to send their kids to school here. That’s because if illegals know that their kids can’t get an education in the United States, it will strongly motivate them to go back home. Conversely, if an illegal feels that his children can get a better education here in the United States than they can in his home country, it gives him another powerful reason to stay here.

That’s why no illegal alien should be allowed to go to public schools in the United States.”

Is illegal immigration finally a presidential issue?

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Over at RCP, they think it is.  Let’s hope the candidates make the border security mess a real issue.

From the article:

“October 2007 may turn out to be the month that immigration became a key issue in presidential politics. It hasn’t been, at least in my lifetime.

The Immigration Act of 1965, which turned out to open up America to mass immigration after four decades of restrictive laws, wasn’t one of the Great Society issues Lyndon Johnson emphasized in 1964. The Immigration Act of 1986, which legalized millions of illegal immigrants but whose border and workplace provisions have never been effectively enforced, was a bipartisan measure unmentioned in the debates between Ronald Reagan and Walter Mondale.

There was no perceptible difference on immigration between George W. Bush and Al Gore in 2000. Both favored a comprehensive bill with legalization and guest-worker provisions. John Kerry in 2006 and 2007 voted for immigration bills along the lines supported by Bush. ”

Furman breaks hearts in overtime loss

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

On a brisk fall night, the Furman Paladins faced the Belmont Bruins in a hotly contested soccer match. As you know, Furman clinched the number 1 spot in the Southern Conference last Saturday vs. Elon. With a 14-2 record over all and a spotless record at home, we were expecting Furman to have an easy ride vs. Belmont.  Besides, this weekend is homecoming, so surely “they” scheduled a lousy team to play: WRONG.

Things started out pretty well. A good crowd assembled on the home side and Furman came out strong in the first half, ending it with a 1-0 lead. Furman’s defense was bulletproof, and their offense was aggressive enough to keep the ball near the Bruins goal nearly the entire half.

The second half was different. The Bruins’ coach must have given the team a royal butt chewing because the team came out aggressively and with brute force after half time.  Furman, on the other hand, was lethargic. They seemed a bit overconfident and lacked the fighting spirit of the first half.  Belmont scored in the last 8 minutes of the match to send both teams into overtime.

The big surprise was the first overtime period.  With less than 32 seconds off the clock, Blemont found an amazing gap in the Paladins’ defense and put a long, forceful shot right into the far corner to win the game.

Overall I must say that the game was well played. It was competitive, and only one card was given. The crowd seemed to be in violation of Southern Conference rules with the way they were bad-mouthing the referee, who made a good number of controversial calls.  Concessions were good and a number of the soccer fans left Stone Stadium to visit the Homecoming festival taking place on the main mall.

Hunter calls out Romney on Chineese partnership

HUNTER CALLS ON ROMNEY TO OPPOSE BAIN PARTNERSHIP WITH CHINESE COMPANY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 2, 2007

CONTACT: Gary Becks (619) 334-1655, dlhunter08@yahoo.com

San Diego, CA - - - Presidential candidate and current Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee, Congressman Duncan Hunter, today called on former Governor Mitt Romney to send a “clear statement” to the leadership of the company he founded, Bain Capital, to terminate a proposed business deal with a controversial Chinese corporation seeking to acquire U.S. defense contractor 3COM. Bain Capital is attempting to form a business arrangement with Huawei Corporation, a Chinese corporation founded by an officer of the Peoples Liberation Army of Communist China, which faces allegations of assisting Saddam Hussein in the targeting of U.S. aircraft and in helping the Taliban develop surveillance equipment.

“I am extremely concerned that Governor Romney’s company would tout a highly suspect Chinese corporation as a strategic partner,” stated Hunter. “Forming a business partnership with a corporation known to have direct ties with terrorists and dictators while, at the same time, openly seeking to acquire a major U.S. corporation that performs vital cyber security work for the Department of Defense, can only be characterized as irresponsible.”

A resolution has been introduced in Congress, H.Res. 730, which states; “The preponderance of publicly available evidence clearly suggests that as currently structured, the proposed transaction involving Huawei threatens the national security of the United States and should not be approved by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States .” A copy of this resolution is provided.

Hunter stated in his letter to Governor Romney, “…while it is true that you no longer control Bain Capital, the contributions you have received from its principals as its founding member indicate that your influence within the company remains strong.

“Further, while the Committee on Foreign Investment has yet to rule on the Huawei transaction, this corporation’s connection to Saddam Hussein, the Taliban and the Army of Communist China should clearly disqualify them from becoming, in the words of your former company, “a strategic partner” in acquiring a U.S. firm such as 3COM, which performs vital cyber-security work for the U.S. Department of Defense.

“This letter is a request that you immediately issue a statement of policy that this transaction should be terminated on the grounds of national security. Please let me know what you intend to do.”

A copy of Congressman Hunter’s letter, as well as two articles regarding Huawei acquisition efforts are provided. Media are encouraged to contact Gary Becks at (619) 334-1655 for additional information or to arrange an interview with Hunter.
