Bill Clinton was not the first President who had a “spin” room. The longstanding tradition of American Presidents being liars began with ol’ “Dishonest Abe.” Before I elaborate, please consider what spin is.
Spin is selling damaging facts as something good. Spin is making people think something is not what it seems. Hence the 8 year debacle of the Clinton Presidency where the nation was systematically destroyed, yet people continue to rate the Clinton years as a good period of our national history.
Now you may be wondering why I chose today to comment on Abraham Lincoln: today is Memorial Day. I think that this holiday began after World War I to honor those who gave their lives in The Great War, but later came to include the Second Great War, then every war since. Unfortunately, some people I have heard speak include the War of Southern Independence as an example of when the United States vanquished the enemy. I’m sorry, but the United States was the evil in that particular war and it’s about time for someone to say so.
Abraham was the first to deny the right of people to determine their own government. As the Declaration of Independence states, the USA was supposedly founded based on such right which was asserted as the American Colonies cast off the oppressive regime of the King of England. The question may then be asked, “Why was it OK for the Colonies to cast off the government of England, but it wasn’t OK for the Southern States to cast off the Federal Government of Washington?” The answer is tyranny and oppression. Abraham Lincoln decided that all the Southern States MUST be part of the USA whether by will or by force.
Abraham Lincoln began the spiral of unrestrained and un-Constitutional government that has developed into the treacherous, monstrosity we call the Federal Government. I write, however, about spin. The War of Northern Oppression was very unpopular in the North and Abraham Lincoln became afraid that Americans were not interested in violating the constitutional and human rights of their (formerly) fellow citizens. The Federal Government sought to usurp the Constitutional rights of the states. The Federal Government would not consider the desires and needs of the people in the Southern States, causing them to form their own government. Americans (even Northerners at the time) could understand the cause of the Confederacy. How could Abraham Lincoln spin this war in a way that would build support? Lincoln went to his “Spin Room” for the brilliant answer: change the purported purpose of the war!
The war began because Lincoln sought to undermine the Constitutional and human rights of the Southern States. No longer would it be acceptable to the American political elite to allow people to determine their own destiny: the motto of the Federal Government became: “Either bend over and grab your ankles or we’ll force you to bend over and grap your ankles, and we don’t care if you like being abused, mistreated, harassed, and oppressed or not.” That motto survives until this day. The spin that came out of Lincoln was the father of all misrepresentations: The war was now to bring freedom to Southern slaves (Lincoln and the rest of the North were quite content to keep slaves of their own). So the great perplexities and oxymoron of American “Spin” (previously known as lies) began.
Support for the War of Oppression began to grow as Lincoln and his spin room sold the war of tyranny as a war of liberation. The war was still being fought to forcibly eradicate the Constitutional and human rights of the Southern States, but the Northerners bought the lies spin of Lincoln thinking that the motives were now noble.
So, for Memorial Day, I remind you that Abraham Lincoln and the Union Army are NOT to be honored. They are to be a reminder of the oppression that forcibly keeps our states un-Constitutionally subjected to the tyranny of Washington D.C. They are a reminder that the American Federal Government will lie and spin the truth into palatable lies of the ignorant, foolish, simple American public.
