Muslim Bernard — an avid Manchester United fan and Sun reader — is staying with his bingo-loving mum Kezia, 67, who has lived in the Berkshire new town for six years.

Before you say, “Just because his name is ‘Muslim’ doesn’t mean that he is Muslim,” read on in the article:

The NRCC hosted Newt Gingrich Wednesday morning at a meeting with Republican members of Congress to discuss the need, now more then ever, for increased American oil. The former Speaker’s words of advice and encouragement preceded a press conference on the steps of the Capitol to unveil The American Energy Act. This bill will increase the supply of American-made energy, improve conservation and efficiency, and promote renewable and alternative energy technologies.

In a continued effort to pressure the Democrat Majority to vote on increasing the supply of American oil, House Republican Leader John Boehner and 10 freshmen GOP lawmakers returned from a trip to Alaska to see for themselves the area referred to as ANWR, where there are an estimated 10 billion barrels of American oil.

The American Energy Act: Supply Side Solutions
Congressman John Boehner of Ohio is set to introduce The American Energy Act, which will most importantly increase America’s energy supplies. The bill calls for leasing regulations for offshore natural gas by 2010, removing restrictions for outer continental shelf drilling, and opening up sections of ANWR for drilling.

The Heritage Foundation’s Senior Policy Analyst Ben Lieberman has been arguing this even when gas prices were around $1 a gallon. More energy supplies, not more taxes and regulations, are what this country needs. It’s economics 101: expanding supply is the surest way to lower energy prices, and the quicker Congress moves to open up restricted areas, the quicker more resources will be available.

As my colleague Michael Franc writes, it is the first time in awhile House Republicans are leading the charge on producing more in America here at home. Now that gas prices are surpassing $5 a gallon in some states, consumer pressure is causing a number of Members to switch their stance on drilling. (more)

Wall Street Journal,July 24, 2008; Page A14: “Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and other liberal leaders on Capitol Hill are gripped by cold-sweat terror. If they permit a vote on offshore drilling, they know they will lose when Blue Dogs and oil-patch Democrats defect to the GOP position of increasing domestic energy production. So the last failsafe is to shut down Congress.

“…at least 65% of America’s undiscovered, recoverable oil, and 40% of its natural gas, is hostage to the Congressional drilling moratorium.

The Democratic leadership is trying to smother any awareness of their responsibility for high prices. They are also trying to quash a revolt among Democrats who realize that the country is still dependent on fossil fuels, no matter how loudly quasimystical environmentalists like Al Gore claim otherwise.”

SCALISE RETURNS FROM ANWR TRIP, URGES DOMESTIC DRILLING (LA-01)

The Hill, July 22nd, 2008: “The American Energy Tour was very important because we were able to look at both short term and the long term solutions to the national energy crisis. We were able to research a lot of proposed solutions to the crisis at both the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) and in Alaska. At NREL we saw what the future will be of energy in this country. Although we are continuing to explore renewable sources of energy, frankly the alternatives are not commercially viable right now. That is why we need to adopt an ‘all of the above’ policy. While we look at the long term solutions with renewable and alternative sources of energy, we must immediately address the short term national crisis. That is a supply and demand problem. We have policies that are prohibiting us from exploring our own natural resources. We are in this predicament because the liberal leadership in Congress has their heads in the sand and continues to block legislation that will lower gas prices…. I’ve seen first hand that we have the technology to drill safely, and increase the supply of American oil to bring down the price of gas. The time for Congress to act is now.” (more)

Recently, a bill known as the ‘Drill Act’ failed to reach the House floor. The Democratic measure failed to pass the US House last week which would have limited offshore oil exploration to areas that are currently leased by oil companies. Republicans defeated the measure, largely favoring opening up new areas giving oil companies access to more offshore regions. Republicans also favor more access to drilling in the Alaskan National Wildlife Reserve…Republican challenger Greg Goode says companies should be allowed to drill wherever they reasonably can. ‘It brings immediate relief at the gas pump. Politico, July 23, 2008: “Democratic leaders, caught off guard by a swing in public opinion and undermined by some of their own members, are scrambling to run down the clock on calls to lift the ban on offshore oil drilling. Tuesday evening, five Democratic senators met with five of their Republican colleagues to hash out a plan that would include far more drilling - from the land and from the sea - than would be allowed under any current Democratic proposal.” (more)

I still resent and despise the treacherous coward of a two legged walking piece of trash named John McCain, but… I CANNOT BRING MYSELF TO VOTE FOR OBAMA (A.K.A. BARRY DUNHAM).

Obama has made such a presumptuous, anti-American spectacle of himself on his taxpayer funded world campaign trip that I just can’t do it. This evil, wicked, vile beast is a traitor worse than John McCain (if that’s possible) and he has publicly lied about America, impugned America, and apologized for America when he has no business and no cause to do so.

Obama isn’t even worth a used dip of snuff, let alone my vote.

RUSH:  I have to be honest.  I have to warn you, give you a barf alert here for the next series of bites, not just the excerpts from the speech by The Messiah but also we have a couple of reaction shots or bites from the Drive-Bys, the disciples who are over there soon to die of anal poisoning they’re following Obama around so much.  Let’s just hit them in order.  Here’s the next one.  You have been warned.

OBAMA:  We acknowledge that there is no more powerful example than the one each of our nations projects to the world.  Will we reject torture and stand for the rule of law? Will we welcome immigrants from other lands and shun discrimination against those who don’t look like us or worship like we do and keep the promise of equality and opportunity for all of our people.

OBAMA:  People of Berlin, people of the world, this is our moment.  This is our time.

RUSH:  All right.  So Obama, he’s gone now beyond the shores of the United States.  He’s not running for president here.  This “citizen of the world” stuff. He’s post-national now.  He really is not — he doesn’t look at himself as — an American citizen.  He lives in America, likes the country, but he’s a citizen of the world.  And he has to go over to Germany, and I don’t know about you, but I’m frosted.  That last bite was Barack Obama ripping his own country.  There is no other country around the world that’s being ripped for torture, and there are places where it’s actually happening. You want to talk about Cuba? You want to talk about China? You want to talk about Russia? Ever heard of Siberia?  You want to talk about many of the Middle Eastern countries where Obama just was.

Torture happens all over the place.  It’s part of Islam, for crying out loud if women do the wrong things! And there he is in Germany criticizing his own country. Not by name, but we all know.  “Will we reject torture and stand for the rule of law?”  He’s in Germany, don’t forget.  I haven’t heard that the Germans were torturing people.  Have you?  “Will we welcome immigrants from different lands?”  Do the Germans have an immigration problem?  Well, they do but I mean, it’s the exact opposite.  They’re letting anybody in.  So is the U.K.  That’s their problem: they are letting anybody in.  He ripped his own country, here.  He took shots at the United States of America while in Berlin speaking as a post-nationalist citizen of the world.  He continued on that theme.

OBAMA:  People of Berlin, people of the world, this is our moment.  This is our time.  I know my country has not perfected itself. (cheers) At times we struggle to keep the promise of liberty and equality for all of our people, we’ve made our share of mistakes, and there are times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best intentions.

RUSH:  Okay.  So now he has to go apologize for the United States of America.  What is it? He’s black, he’s running for President of the United States, “We haven’t perfected ourselves.” You know, that’s a key phrase, by the way, is one of the things that drives liberalism is the fact that they think people and institutions can be perfected.  They think they can be perfect.  And when nothing is perfect, then everything’s wrong.  But this is just beyond the pale.  He’s talking to Germans and making excuses for the United States of America, which to this day defends and protects Germany?  (interruption) Exactly right. This is insulting.  It is demeaning.  “We have made our share of mistakes.  There are times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best intentions.”  This is Iraq.  But he’s not a candidate, folks.  He’s just a guy strolling through the forest there who happened to see a microphone and a podium.

He says, “Oh, there’s about 100,000 people out there. I think I’ll go make a speech.”  This is change.  But ladies and gentlemen, if you are wondering when you hear Obama talk about change, this is it.  The change is: America sucks, America’s deficient, America’s guilty, but America is now willing to pay the price because we have a Messiah who understands the faults, the egregious errors made by the United States and her people.  We are racists, sexists, bigots, homophobes. We discriminate against people who worship differently than we do, have skin color different from ours, and we have not always behaved properly in the world.  And we torture.  And we, of course, are biased against people who want to get into our country illegally.  We have a lot to pay for.  Not to mention that we are primarily the country responsible for climate change, shrinking the Atlantic coastline, melting the Arctic ice.  This is the change.  You want change?  This is the change.  Now, I think he knew he was on some thin ice.  So this was next.
OBAMA:  I also know how much I love America.  I know that for more than two centuries we have strived at great cost and great sacrifice to form a more perfect union, to seek with other nations a more hopeful world.

RUSH:  We have strived?  We have strived?  He has no concept of American exceptionalism.  He has no concept of the true greatness of this country, nor what has caused it, what’s behind it.  Ignorant.  Now, the barf alert continues.  We have two audio sound bites from the Drive-By disciples following The Messiah.  Here first is Andrea Mitchell of the National Barack Channel.

MITCHELL:  The soaring rhetoric, lofty hopes, addressing a crowd that German officials say is more than 100,000 strong.  Presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama, echoing Ronald Reagan as well as others who have spoken here, said that the walls that now must come down, must be torn down are the walls between races and tribes; natives and immigrants; Christian and Muslim and Jew, and that the walls between these people cannot stand.

RUSH:  Channeling or “echoing” Ronald Reagan? pimping and distorting Ronald Reagan would be more like it.  Here’s Newsweek’s Richard Wolffe also speaking on the National Barack Channel.

WOLFFE: We’ve seen him going through these with leaders and press conferences.  But clearly what he’s accomplished is that image: the giant crowd between the Victory Column and the Brandenburg Gate and a crowd waving American flags.  I mean, when you contrast that with what we’ve seen with President Bush, generating business crowds protesting against his big presence, protesting against the war; that’s really the image he is trying to project to Americans saying, “You can vote for me and I will unite the world, be a popular president,” something obviously that has been very unusual over the last seven years.

RUSH:  I told you, I warned you people.  I warned you people, barf alert.  So now we’ve got a Brit journalist, at least a Brit-accent journalist:  Yeah, Bush draws big crowds but they are to protest, but here’s Obama proving he can unite the world.

CALLER:  You know, I wonder if Obama is going to be using this as his experience, you know, with speaking with foreign leaders because up to this point, he has absolutely no experience in that area whatsoever.  This is something that our president definitely needs some kind of experience.  Maybe this — in my opinion — maybe this will give him experience for the next election maybe if he continues this, but, sir, I don’t think that this year’s going to be enough experience for him to prove to the American people that he can deal with the extreme problems that are going on in the world today.

RUSH:  You misunderstand the point.  There aren’t any severe problems because Obama will solve them.  He’s The Messiah.  We’re going to remake the world and unite the world with change.  There aren’t any problems as long as we elect Obama.

CALLER:  Would Obama accept the fact that we don’t need change, we need dollars to buy a gallon of gas now?

RUSH:  No, no, no, no, that’s minuscule.  In fact, Obama doesn’t care what your gasoline — if you remember, he is not upset about the price.  He’s just upset about how quickly it increased.

CALLER:  Oh, yeah.

RUSH:  Remember that?

CALLER:  I remember that.  You know, sir, if I could say just one more thing before I let you get on with this wonderful, wonderful show of yours.

CALLER:  If I could ask Obama to put on a uniform while he’s over there and get down in the trenches with our boys that are over there fighting and actually get some military experience.

RUSH:  There won’t be any need for the military.  See, you are still not getting it.  Messiahs don’t have armies.  They don’t have divisions.  They don’t need them.  There won’t be a need for armies.  He won’t have to know the military because there won’t be any military, anywhere.  I don’t think people quite understand here what’s going to happen.  Obama’s going to get elected, he’s going to get inaugurated and the world’s going to lay down their arms.  Everybody’s going to destroy their nukes after we do ours, everybody’s going to get rid of their AK-47s after we get rid of ours.  These things, the world was going to follow the example of The Messiah.  That’s what he wants people to think.  Now, I know this sounds very strange but there are people living in this country who are alive today who are prepared to believe that.  Many of them make up Obama’s supporters even as we speak.

Well, it has been learned that before the presumptive Democrat nominee spoke to a crowd in Berlin Thursday, two popular German acts — reggae artist Patrice and rock band Reamonn — entertained the gathering audience.

Will media report this tonight, or just gush and fawn over the huge crowd again?

Shortly after 6 pm Central time — just a few hours after Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, gave his speech in Berlin, which his campaign insisted was not political — his campaign manager, David Plouffe, sent out a fundraising solicitation using the speech to raise campaign cash.

“As you may have heard, Barack has been in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia this week,” reads the email, with a big red “DONATE” sign. “Today, he spoke in Berlin, Germany. In a city where a wall once divided the free from the oppressed, he talked about tearing down the walls that divide all peoples so we can address our common problems — the threats of terrorism and nuclear weapons, global warming and genocide, AIDS and poverty. Watch Barack’s historic speech and share it with your friends.”

The letter offers a link to the video and asks recipients to please “forward this email to your friends, family, and colleagues.”

This is certainly going to be used as ammunition for those critics who wondered about the true purpose of this “non political” trip.

JERUSALEM – Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign plastered the entrance to the Western Wall – the holiest site in Judaism – with official campaign posters, WND has learned.

Jerusalem Police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld confirmed to WND posters that adorned police barricades erected at the Western Wall plaza for Obama’s visit were distributed by the presidential candidate’s campaign.

“These posters were his campaign and not the doing of the police,” said Rosenfeld, whose police department coordinated security and provided protection for Obama’s visit today to the holy site.

Asked if it was traditional practice for politicians visiting the Western Wall to bring along posters or campaign materials, Rosenfeld replied, “No.”

This evil terrorist is touring the world on American taxpayer money, denying he’s campaigning (and he is), presuming to represent the American people (which he doesn’t), acting like he’s our next president (God, I hope he isn’t), and projecting his own negative spiteful image of America on the international stage.

We already know that Democrats want everyone else to foot the bill for their own elitism. This is not surprise.

The committee hosting the Democratic National Convention is using the city’s gas pumps to fill up on fuel, avoiding state and federal highway taxes, officials said today.

“There’s something there that just doesn’t seem right to me because, in a sense, you’re saying then that the officials who pass the laws are not willing to live by them, and that concerns me,” Councilwoman Jeanne Faatz said.

The issue came up during the council’s weekly meeting with Mayor John Hickenlooper when the Public Works Department requested authorization to be reimbursed by the Denver 2008 Convention Host Committee for use of “fueling facilities, fuel and car washes.”

“By doing it this way, by running it through our Fleet Maintenance, that means that that fuel does not pay state or federal highway taxes,” Faatz said.

Christine Downs, a public works spokeswoman, said the host committee is not paying the city’s locked-in fuel rate but one that’s based on the weekly cost of gas. Downs was unable to provide council members an example.
