Solve adware and spyware problems with these downloads
Here’s an article I’ve written that is published on another web site:
Hackers, anarchists, and scammers have permanently transformed the online topography into one of many dangers and annoyances. Although one category of these dangers, viruses, is most well known, it has almost been eclipsed by two others: adware and spyware. Computer users should not only be aware of these threats, but should have tools ready to deal with them as they arise. Fortunately, the best downloads to deal with spyware and adware are free. We will discuss those downloads here, but first, let’s go over a few terms.
Adware – Advertiser sponsored software
Adware is the term that was originally used to refer to advertising sponsored software. This is software that is freely downloadable, but rather than paying for it with money, the user has to pay for it by viewing a constant series of invasive advertisements. The solution to this type of adware, assuming that the user found it to be of use, was to go ahead and pay the money to have the advertisements removed. Those however were the good old days because now adware is much more than this.
Adware – Advertising servers
The term, Adware, has evolved a great deal since its inception and now includes phenomena that are much more sinister than typical advertiser sponsored software. It now includes software that is installed on a computer (most of the time without the user’s permission) for the purposes of serving up advertisements on a perpetual basis in either program or browser windows that appear without any user intervention. These advertisements are usually for weight loss products, easy money schemes, dating web sites, and pornography services, though they are by no means limited to these categories. User attempts to close these advertisement windows are met only with the display of more advertisements. While other flavors of adware exist, they all basically follow this pattern.
