Gangster Government in Greenville County

News: South Carolina 2 December 2009 | 0 Comments

Greenville County Council’s plan for growth under the auspices of the United Nations didn’t prove to be very popular with the people yesterday. Isn’t that pesky and annoying? Of course, what the people think doesn’t bother County Council one bit (as usual).

From the Greenville News:

A sometimes irate crowd of Tea Party activists, taxpayer groups and property rights advocates shouted down County Council members Tuesday night, booed their procedural moves and threatened election payback because of what rally organizers characterized as a U.N.-driven effort to extend government’s control over local property.

The crowd, which included current and former political candidates, men in faux colonial ponytails and children in “RINO Hunt” T-shirts, drew twice the normal security and at one point protested a council move behind closed doors for legal advice.

“You work for me,” shouted one man. “We hate you,” said another.

Tell me this: With the track record of the people’s participation at every level of government being repeatedly proven to be totally ineffective, why do people bother? The only participation that will ever make a difference will be a revolution, and that is just too much trouble for most people. That’s right: people like to complain, but they are completely unwilling to do anything about government at any level… oh yes, those election threats? Forget ‘em. The same people will continue to get re-elected.
