The Greenville News reported that an aircraft crashed at GSP. I’m trying to figure out what the news is: is it that there was a crashat GSP or is it that there was a plane at GSP? Of course it wasn’t a commercial airplane that crashed, but still, it’s amazing everytime a plane is sighted at Greenville / Sparatanburg’s “International” airport. From the article:

The pilot and one of the passengers in today’s plane crash at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport are in serious but stable condition, while the condition of a second passenger is listed as “fair,” said a top executive with Stevens Aviation Inc.

Neal McGrail, chief operating officer for Stevens, said two of the company’s avionics technicians were in the King Air turbo-prop, which was on a brief maintenance flight when it went down on State 14. Ed Wilk, a 12-year employee, is in fair condition, while Derek Holiday, a 9-year veteran is serious but stable, McGrail said.

The pilot, who worked for the plane’s owner and who McGrail said he was not authorized to identify, is also in serious but stable condition.

McGrail said the plane was on a brief flight because it was about to be serviced by his company, but that he didn’t know how long it had been in the air, where it went or what the issue was that the people onboard were studying. Images from the scene show the plane largely intact.
